HANDLING COMPRESSED GAS CYLINDER (PART 1) #TIPS SAFETY

Lately, pressurized gas cylinders are widely used by our people, the most frequently we see and meet every day is for the needs of Oxygen in the Hospital, for welding, for household fuel, and also for industrial needs.

It is very important to know how to store and use pressurized gas cylinders, in order to avoid accidents or fires due to errors in handling.

The following are tips for handling pressurized gas cylinders in industrial needs.

1. Pressurized gas cylinders should be stored in a dry place and avoid direct heat from the sun, store them in a special room, which is fenced and locked.

2. Only the person in charge and trained workers are allowed to enter the room.

3. Make sure the label 6 stating the contents of the tube and the pressure inside it sticks and can be read clearly on each tube.

4. Keep the tube away from flammable objects

5. Secure the tube with the rack so that the tube does not fall

6. If the gas cylinder is not used, the valve caps must remain attached.

7. To move a compressed gas cylinder, use a hans truck with adequate capacity to carry several cylinders at once.

8. Avoid sources of ignition in direct contact with the surface of the tube.

9. Ensure that the valve and regulator are installed correctly.

10. Always open the valve tube slowly and avoid fully opening it quickly.

11. Separate and mark the empty gas cylinders

12. Saving a gas cylinder for more than 1 year is not recommended, because it can create unsafe conditions for employees.

13. Never use a damaged safety relief valve and a leaky gas cylinder.

14. Mark and separate the gas cylinder that is leaking and damaged.

15. Take care to keep the tubes and accessories in good condition.

16. Make sure the cylinder that is received is still good and the label is clear. Do not accept the cylinder with an unclear label.

17. Always use PPE when handling pressurized gas cylinders.
